The second week of our Summer Program ended successfully with many friends. After the three-day weekend, we learned about Tuvalu, an island nation surrounded by the sea. The students made fins for snorkeling.

On Wednesday, we learned about Egypt. The younger students made a pyramid and the older students made a mummy and its coffin. They made the body with aluminum foil and wrapped it up with bandages, then they decorated the coffin with many colors. They concentrated for a long time to make these! On Thursday, we learned about Czechia and made an astronomical clock. They tried to copy Roman numerals, Schwabacher, old Czechia numerals, and the constellation signs.

On Friday, we learned about Cuba and cooked Cuban cuisine. The older students cooked a Cuban sandwich which has pickles on it. When the teacher opened the pickle jar, they all said “It’s smelly!!!” and they ran away from the table…. Only one student tried tasting the pickles. The younger students cooked rice pudding. They enjoyed mixing it all together, and they all tasted the rice pudding.
