This week, we read the book called “The Rainbow Fish”. Penguin, Starfish, and Seal class students made their own fish headband. Starfish class students cut paper strips to make scales and Seal class students learned to make two semi-circles from one circle. Whale class students made rainbow fish with felt and it was their first time to sew with a real needle and thread. They were very careful not to prick their finger while they sewed two pieces of felt together. Then they stuffed it with cotton to make a rainbow fish pillow!

They used props to act out The Rainbow Fish story. The younger students asked very nicely with “Please!” or “May I have a scale, please?”, however our rainbow fish had a bit of a hard time sharing its shiny scales. (Maybe the scales were too attractive…) So, our story was different from the original story. We will give the children more opportunities to act and speak in front of an audience to help develop their public speaking skills. Of course their favorite activity this week was making edible rainbow fish. They all cut up colorful fruits and made a unique Rainbow Fish!
