Last week began with the students talking about “feelings”. Penguin, Starfish, and Seal Class students made a “feelings collage” with magazine picture cutouts. They loved looking at photos of people, and enjoyed using “feeling” words to describe the faces.

Then we read the book “Glad Monster and Sad Monster”, and made pictures of “happy”, “angry”, and “sad” faces. Seal Class students used scissors to cut paper strips, and we reminded them to hold the scissors properly.

Whale Class students had a few discussions related to feelings: When do we get very, very angry? When do we get frustrated? What is a “frustrated” feeling?, etc. Mr. Y said when he has to do a worksheet or study he gets frustrated, and Mr. H said when he cannot find the right words to explain something, he gets frustrated. It seems they understand the “frustrated” feeling very well. We also talked about “anger management” a little, and we’ll discuss that more next week.
